Dr Laura Oxley-Patterson, DMV

Dr. Laura Oxley-Patterson joined our team in  2020. An only child, she is very close with her parents who still live in her hometown of Platteville, WI. Her independent father lost his sight when Dr. Laura was very young and has enjoyed the companionship and freedom offered by several amazing German Shepherd Seeing Eye Guide Dogs over the past 40 years. Graduating from UW-Platteville with a double major in biology/zoology and music (flute and piano), vet school was her next conquer. Living and practicing in and around the Madison area since graduation from UW-Madison Vet School 21 years ago, she has enjoyed exploring this beautiful and enriching community. Professionally, her passions are Small Animal Behavior, Pain and Wound management, Natural and Alternative therapies, Small Mammal care, and Fear-Free Visit Strategies. Dr Laura  loves all things outdoors, especially WI (camping, hiking, running, biking, paddling, disc golfing, skijoring) and adventuring far and wide with her  husband and standard poodle, “Raven”. She became an avid supporter and fundraiser for the local cancer organization Czar’s Promise when her  previous standard poodle “Rogue” was diagnosed with digital melanoma at age 3. She and her husband have had the good fortune to travel to several countries in Europe, climb Africa’s Mt. Kilimanjaro, see Machu Picchu, bike around Spain, and hike to the base camp of Mt. Everest in Nepal!

CZAR'S PROMISE

It began as a love story; the attraction, immediate. In 2001, a small white fluffball with an infectious smile that had me at "hello", came bounding full steam ahead and into my arms; and yes, that was all it took.
