Dr Kai started the first private practice oncology service in SW Wisconsin in 2010, providing personalized, caring and judgement free consultations for families facing a diagnosis of cancer in their pet. Originally from England, his veterinary training began at the University of Glasgow, Scotland followed by a degree in veterinary pathology at the Royal Veterinary College in London. His advanced clinical training began at Cornell University’s small animal hospital, followed by a medical oncology residency at UW Madison. His clinical interests include urogenital carcinomas, lymphoma and palliation of bone cancer. “Treating cancer in companion animals isn’t about fighting the cancer in the way that gets the most time - it’s about understanding what a family’s goals and concerns are, and helping the family choose the treatment option that finds the right balance”.
Currently Dr. Shiu is a Veterinary Oncologist at VCA-Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center, Middleton and Madison Wisconsin and lives with his wife Andrea, daughter Evelyn and two tabby cats, Baxter and Joey Tribbiani.
