Courtney became involved with the Czar’s Promise team after her one-in-a-million Great Dane, Zayda, faced her second battle with cancer. Zayda was Courtney’s “other half” and worked as the therapy dog at the high school where Courtney teaches. Zayda fought and beat lymphoma, but was then diagnosed with osteosarcoma a couple of years later. Zayda’s battle ended about six months after that, but Courtney’s promise to her to keep her spirit alive by continuing her fight carries on. The Czar’s Promise team, focus, and mission have been pivotal in that process, and Courtney is beyond grateful to be a part of this important work and to be able to make a difference for others facing the same fight!
Courtney is a high school English teacher, self-proclaimed dog lover, and wife and mother of one.
