March 8th will mark one year without my best bud Drake at my side, our time together cut far too short at just 8 ¼ years old due to cancer (hemangiosarcoma). Those two words haunt me daily, and my promise to Drake is to keep telling his and our story in an effort to help others by raising money for Czar’s Promise and giving as Drake did so selflessly daily.
If you’re unfamiliar with Czar’s Promise, they are a grassroots non-profit located right here in Wisconsin. Their mission is to provide financial resources for cancer treatment and research for pets and children alike. Drake had a deep love for other dogs and children, and this organization perfectly aligns with his values. I’ve known the founder, Beth, for over a year now, and while I wish we had never met, it has been an absolute privilege to contribute to the great work she and the rest of the Czar’s Promise team are doing.
Last year with incredible support we surpassed my $7,500 fundraising goal. This year is a significant year for me, and I hope with your support, we can raise the bar and exceed $10,000. All of my racing efforts will be focused on raising funds for Czar’s Promise. As of now, this includes two world major marathons: the Boston marathon on April 20th and Chicago marathon October 11th.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has considered and generously supported my efforts.
